Cruz Blanca Flood Prevention
On August 7th, 2021, a strong storm hit Cruz Blanca, Guatemala, causing damage to the community and our Learning Center buildings and pipe system. Please prayerfully consider financially helping our VisionTrust Cruz Blanca Learning Center prevent future destruction.
FLOOD PREVENTION FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS: • Classroom Area: A retaining wall and concrete drainage channels need to be placed in the entire surrounding of the building. • Administrative Area: A concrete frame needs to be placed around the building and a concrete drainage channel needs to be built. • Kitchen Area: A retaining wall, a concrete frame around the building, and a concrete drainage channel needs to be installed • Entire Campus: A rainwater drainage network needs to be placed so all the drains from the buildings are properly directed to water collecting boxes via trenching and piping. Total cost: $55,050USD
AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND IMPACT:
A local non-profit, UNUM Guatemala, has granted VisionTrust Guatemala a matching fund of up to $35,000 USD to implement further facility improvements at the Cruz Blanca Learning Center.
With a complete matching fund, VisionTrust Guatemala would be able to:
• Provide Additional Flood Prevention Measures
• The 4,036 square foot area adjacent to the main classroom building slopes downward, causing water to run downhill towards the foundation of this building when heavy rains occur. The main classroom building can be well protected from future flooding by completely leveling and compacting this area, adding drains, and placing paving stones. In addition, they will be able to better secure and improve the kitchen at the Learning Center.
