Diego lives in this impoverished area of Cruz Blanca where gangs and community uprisings and unrest, present challenges to his every day life. He lives with his family but they struggle to survive due to limited resources and opportunities. When he isn’t helping his family with chores, Diego enjoys playing soccer and running. Hundreds of Mayan children in the village of Cruz Blanca lack the resources to attend public school. They try to help their families by working at a young age, hindering their chance for a better future. VisionTrust partners with the Cruz Blanca Learning Center to provide these children with tutoring in math, Spanish, reading and vocational skills. The Learning Center serves children five days a week, providing them with a Christian education, nutritious food, and the love of God.
