Edmar lives with his family in this impoverished area of Cruz Blanca, where the living conditions are very difficult. There are many community challenges, including community unrest, child labor and illiteracy. Hundreds of Mayan children in the village of Cruz Blanca lack the resources to attend public school. They try to help their families by working at a young age, hindering their chance for a better future. VisionTrust partners with the Cruz Blanca Learning Center to provide these children with tutoring in math, Spanish, reading and vocational skills. The Learning Center serves children five days a week, providing them with a Christian education, nutritious food, and the love of God.
