Los Guaricanos, a neighborhood in northern Santo Domingo, was historically owned by sugar cane companies. Voodoo and witchcraft became part of the culture through migrant sugar cane workers. Poverty is evident in alcohol and drug abuse, broken families, violence, lack of education, and health problems. The Lord put this neighborhood on the heart of our Local Heroes and a new church and small school were formed. Camino De Libertad exists to rescue children by setting an example of love through the Gospel.
