Camino de Libertad

Female | Age: 12 | Birthdate: February 18, 2012

Escarlet is a friendly, energetic child who enjoys playing with dolls, singing and playing house. Escarlet lives with her parents in the impoverished area of Los Guaricanos, where the community faces the social challenges of underage pregnancy, domestic violence and alcohol and drug related issues. The typical home is made from cement blocks, with a cement floor and their drinking water usually has to be purchased and carried home. Your sponsorship will make it possible for Escarlet to attend school where she will receive a school uniform, books, a snack, and basic health and dental instruction. She will hear the Gospel presented through Christian curriculum taught at school and learn of Jesus love for her. Please remember Escarlet in your prayers. Your love and support will help Escarlet receive the assistance she needs to develop to her full potential.

More about Camino de Libertad...

Los Guaricanos, a neighborhood in northern Santo Domingo, was historically owned by sugar cane companies. Voodoo and witchcraft became part of the culture through migrant sugar cane workers. Poverty is evident in alcohol and drug abuse, broken families, violence, lack of education, and health problems. The Lord put this neighborhood on the heart of our Local Heroes and a new church and small school were formed. Camino De Libertad exists to rescue children by setting an example of love through the Gospel.
